Electric Speech takes its name, more or less, from the Chinese for "telephone" (電話 = electric word) and to me embodies both the technologies I write about and the notion of freedom of speech, without which those technologies would serve little purpose.
I'm a Hong Kong-based journalist, most recently news editor of the regional web news service telecomasia.net, and have covered telecom and tech from Taipei, Beijing and Hong Kong and Sydney for most of the last 20 years.
